Nitrile and EPDM are both synthetic rubber compounds that are commonly used to make general-purpose O-rings. They are both durable and offer comparable resistance to certain environmental conditions and media. However, they differ in their resistance to certain conditions: 

A silicone ring is a flexible, durable, and non-metallic circular band made from silicone rubber. These rings are widely used for both functional and decorative purposes, known for their resilience, comfort, and versatility. Silicone rings can serve as a substitute for traditional metal rings, especially in situations where safety, comfort, or practicality is prioritized.

A silicone rubber ring is a circular sealing device, typically made from silicone rubber, which provides an airtight or watertight seal between two surfaces. These rings are often used in applications where flexibility, high-temperature resistance, and durability are important. Silicone rubber rings are especially valued in industries that require non-toxic, chemically resistant, and weatherproof materials.

Hollow O-rings are a variation of standard O-rings designed for applications requiring low closing force, often used in sealing lids and doors. They feature a hollow core, which allows for easier compression compared to solid O-rings. These seals are well-suited for static, low-pressure situations and applications with rough surface finishes. 

Neoprene® o-rings is the first synthetic rubber developed commercially, in 1930 by a DuPont chemist, and exhibits generally good ozone, aging and chemical resistance. Chloroprene (CR) is a multi-purposed elastomer which yields a balanced combination of properties.

An encapsulated O-ring comprises an elastomer energising core, which has a seamless jacket made from fluoropolymer. The elastomeric core may be Fluorocarbon (Viton/FPM or Silicone). The jacket is made from Teflon® F.E.P. (Fluorinated - ethylemnbmbnne - propylene).

An NBR O-ring (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber O-ring) is a circular sealing component made from Nitrile Butadiene Rubber, a synthetic rubber known for its excellent resistance to oils, fuels, and other petroleum-based fluids. NBR O-rings are among the most commonly used O-rings in various industrial applications due to their affordability, durability, and chemical resistance, particularly in environments involving hydraulic fluids, oils, and greases.

Viton O-rings, also known as FKM O-rings, are sealing components made from a synthetic rubber called fluoroelastomer. They are known for their exceptional resistance to heat, chemicals, oils, and fuels, making them suitable for a wide range of demanding applications. The term "Viton" is a trademarked brand name for a specific type of fluoropolymer elastomer produced by Chemours, while FKM is the material designation.
